THAI, UNIFEM  and Ministry of Justice Announce Inflight Fundraising Drive

Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, President of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited together with Dr. Kittipong Kittayarak, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Dr. Jean D' Cunha, Regional Programme Director of UNIFEM East and Southeast Asia Regional Office jointly launched a fundraising initiative called Change NOW! Say NO to Violence Against Women. The press conference was held at THAI’s Head Office.

To support the project, starting from January and throughout 2010, THAI will air the promotional video featuring a key message to prevent violence against women from Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha, UNIFEM Goodwill Ambassador, onboard domestic and international flights. THAI and its cabin crew will help collect passenger donations of unused currency in an onboard coin-drive. The funds collected will support UNIFEM’s programming around gender-based violence.

Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, President of THAI said, “THAI is very proud to be part of promoting Change NOW! THAI always emphasizes on Corporate Social Responsibility, and we realize the importance of preventing violence against women. Living in society needs to involve caring, unity and giving. Preventing the violence will help create social benefit; therefore, this campaign will create social wellness”.
