His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn Presides Over the Royal Launch of THAI Smile

Bangkok, 30 July 2012 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn and His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti presided over the Royal Launch of THAI Smile , with the attendance of Mr. Ampon Kittiampon, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Chokchai Panyayong, Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development and Acting President, Mr. Woranate Laprabang, Managing Director, THAI Smile Business Unit, and Members of the Board of Directors, Management, and staff of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, honorable guests from the Ministry of Transport at THAI’s Hangar, Technical Department, Suvarnabhumi Airport. 
 

Mr. Chokchai Panyayong , THAI Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development and Acting President, said that THAI established the THAI Smile Business Unit in order to boost its competitive strength in certain markets and meet the travel demands of today’s passengers.   The THAI Smile brand character Trendy-Friendly-Worthy reflects the new generation lifestyle of travelers who seek a relaxed, stylish on board atmosphere, placing greater importance on smart choices with value for their money.   THAI Smile’s products and services are comparable to the standard of quality experienced on THAI flights.   THAI Smile will operate on short-haul to medium-haul flights to domestic and regional destinations.

THAI Smile operates flights with an all new fleet of Airbus A320-200 aircraft, which is ideal for cost-effective operations over short to medium distance routes.   On 29 June 2012, THAI Smile received delivery of this first Airbus A320-200 aircraft, royally bestowed the name “Ubon Ratchatani” and inaugurated its first flight from Bangkok to Macau on Saturday, 7 July 2012.   During the month of August 2012, THAI Smile will begin roundtrip flights from Bangkok-Krabi and Bangkok-Surat Thani.   In September 2012, THA Smile will begin roundtrip flights from Bangkok-Hyderabad.   In October 2012, THAI Smile will begin roundtrip flights from Bangkok-Chiang Mai, Bangkok-Phuket and Chiang Mai-Phuket.
